Celebrate the season at the premier farm-to-table food event of the summer
Set at the stunning Red Dog Ranch, nestled at the base of Whetstone Mountain in Crested Butte, Feast in the Field is a celebration of local and regional food, the farmers and ranchers who steward our plants and animals, and the makers that transform healthy ingredients into inspiration for the senses.
The evening begins with our signature Maker’s Tasting, where local and regional beverage artisans share their craft, their flavors, and their stories. Then gather for a Colorado-inspired feast prepared by Chef and Owner Matt Santor of Crested Butte Catering Company, an unforgettable meal rooted in the bounty of our region.
Break bread with a purpose
Feast in the Field raises funds annually to strengthen the food system in the Gunnison Valley and to help Mountain Roots provide nutritious and healthy food to some of our most vulnerable residents. Through your support of this event, you are helping to feed families on a weekly basis through our food security efforts. In addition, your participation helps to make possible Mountain Roots programming that supports small family farms and ranches by expanding the market for their products, trains the next generation of farmers through regenerative practices, and teaches kids about food, nutrition, and environmental science through hands-on experiences in and out of the classroom.

Our Work
Mountain Roots cultivates a resilient food system in Gunnison Valley, Colorado, by enhancing healthy connections between earth, food, and community. We foster knowledge, teach skills, and provide opportunities that ensure access to affordable, nutritious food that is regionally based and sustainably produced.
WHAT WE DO
Regenerative Farming
Regenerating the land, building soil, training young farmers, and providing food for our community. In addition to 2 in-ground farms, this includes 4 container farms that operate all year long, expanding our growing season significantly.
Farm to School
We teach youth about environmental science, nutrition & healthy eating, growing food, cooking, and more. This deepens their connection to earth, food, and community and builds a foundation for a healthy future.
Food Security
Developing individuals’ self-sufficiency and providing nutritious produce across the Gunnison valley and western Colorado. From free boxes of produce to creating community in our gardens, food security reaches many aspects of our valley.
Healthy Futures
We build bridges from college to career for young adults seeking to gain experience in agriculture, youth education, community food security, and nature.
